And no offense to Tom fucking Waits or Jeff Bridges (in one of his best performances, no less), but for me The Fisher King is all about Michael Jeter, who just plain steals the movie in his ten minutes of screen time.

Just didn't come together for me… Especially since the soda tax plot was so, so good.  I love it when the show addresses the difficulties of actually running Pawnee.

I like John Hawkes a lot, and he looks just fine in The Sessions, but Joaquin Pheonix is just plain tremendous in The Master.  I was never a fan of his (his nomination for Gladiator is still the stuff of punchlines… "It vexes me!"), but I've rarely seen a performance that deeply internalized, and that well-controlled

Glad to hear someone else found it hokey.  I complained about this in a previous thread, and I thought I'd brought down the wrath of the internet gods.  But… it's a really, really hokey book.
