Agreed. I think Ignatiy Vishnevetsky is probably the most entertaining commenter on his own show that I've seen here.

According to wikipedia, the commercials were added December 8th.
But the thing is Shakespeare could be low class; really really low class. He was brilliant at sex humor and insults at a level Chuck Lorre could never reach. So can we please stop using him as a level for high brow writing?

Recomendations
I'm sure you have plenty to watch, but if you can, check out the short film The Strange Ones. One of my professors directed it and showed us a cut of it and it was awesome. It's got the feel of Let the Right One In but in a twelve minute chunk.
American Idol airs Child Porn
No, seriously. They had a shot of an underage girl's nipple.
Completely off-topic
but it's great to see you writing an article for the AV Club! I'm a fan of Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan and it's great to see you here!
That Tobias and his analrapist practice!
This is definitely becoming my new desktop background.
Based on that quote, Krisel is a writer/director that worked on the show and Lussenhop edited the show. Both of them worked on Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job and they brought the writing/directing/editing style of that show to Portlandia.
T&E
The editing definitely reminded me of that (awkward pauses cutting back and forth, some of the sound, the end of the computer sketch); glad to know that there was some talent crossover behind the scenes.
Commercials were added early/mid December; Mr. Show and their other new pick ups were added at the very beginning of January.
I didn't mind it when I noticed that there were commercials during their tv shows, but the movies was annoying. I don't watch AMC movies much because of all the editing, so now IFC's for AD reruns, which I ended up buying on DVD ($28 for the entire series on amazon!) right after the ads started showing up.
Their panel idea reminded me of my friends wanting to create a panel for a comic convention about running a comic book club so we could go for free. I have a feeling that this panel was basically that realized, but with terrible execution.
His name was David, but yeah, brilliant joke.
I think it's 8 episodes left that Holly can be on and 10 left for Michael.
The guy that writes Far Side saw Ishtar on a plane flight (after the comic was published) and ended up feeling bad that he drew the comic since he didn't find the movie terrible.
