It wouldn't have went down like it did!

I also find Sgt Hatred pretty funny. I think Blue Jam and Brass Eye have extended my comfort zone for that sort of humour,

It's pretty big here in the UK. I think the BBC's basically holding a gun to the heads of Scandinavian tv directors at this point in a desperate bid to get more product. Quality Scandi tv has become big enough here that the jumpers worn by the lead in the Danish version of The Killing have become a fashion* trend.
*I'm

This is just the same as watching porn, except I can't see anything, I haven't got a hard-on, and I want to cry.

Yeah, for a 12 year old this is actually pretty great. At that point I'd just started on my long road to being able to play the verse riff from Come as you Are.

I've been loving these recaps and their comments sections, but the reposted snpp.com comments have been the biggest revelation for me.

I remember after the Haiti disaster, they did an expose on outbreaks of diphtheria, which they blamed on UN relief workers. I thought it might just be bias against western-led interventions as I couldn't see it anywhere else, but it did turn out to be true.

Do enjoy Al-Jazeera. They cover events in the Middle East and Asia beyond "there's been a natural disaster/civil war/revolution!"

He's definitely a huge influence on the current state of hip-hop. I feel like there's a trend right now for rappers who aren't necessarily conscious or thug rappers, and can be earnest or self-aggrandising or whatever as they like, instead of having to be all bluster all the time, or having to talk about politics all

Can probably just close down the av club comments for the year at this point.

Thanks, I might check it out next time I'm in a decent comic shop.  "The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For" sounds like some kind of arcane spotter's guide.

Still finishing off my cosy holiday reading of Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett and Santaland by David Sedaris. UA  is pretty decent for recent Pratchett and it's great to see the Unseen University again, but it feels a little flat for some reason.

That sounds amazing, added it to my tragic little iPhone note document of things to check out.

It's just never grabbed me in the same way. I've seen maybe ten episodes now and I like it just fine, it's just never got its hooks into me. Although I think the BMO noir episode was unreservedly fantastic, but nothing else in it has got me the same way. It might just be that I don't tend to go for adventure-type

I dunno, David Foster Wallace's account of the guy's time as a POW makes it sound pretty harrowing.

Totally, she was my favourite thing about Capote, even allowing for how great PSH's performance was.
