It annoys me too. I get that the US is overwhelmingly NFL/football-oriented, but why not devote some more time to sports that are actually happening right now when the NFL is in the off- or pre-season? I never watch ESPN unless they're broadcasting a game that I want to watch, though, so most of the time, I don't have

Online highlights are usually good enough for me (or, you know, actually watching the game itself). Can't stand ESPN; even worse than the highlight shows is their game broadcasting, and this comes from someone who isn't especially picky about game announcers.

Yes, agree so completely. This and what @februarymakeup said pretty much sum up what I was trying to say in the Cosmopolis review's subthread about Cronenberg dissing Nolan's Batman films as "not art". Except you two said it much better and more clearly.

I think the problem is that people keep using "art" as a compliment. I mean, aren't all movies forms of art? The question shouldn't be whether or not they even qualify as art, but what divides good art from bad art.

@avclub-0130769689fc487f3a17c0535d859cd9:disqus I disagree, though, especially with point 3. Every genre has certain recurring elements and tropes that could give them a sense of repetition (horror, the genre that Cronenberg uses as an example, has this in droves), but that doesn't mean that they're boring or that

I liked Captain America a lot. Had no real expectations when I went to see it, which I did mostly so I could hang out with friends, but I ended up really enjoying it (good crowd helped there). Hayley Atwell's Peggy was probably my favorite superhero love interest at that point, and it's actually my favorite of the

I thought it was good overall. Felt like the execution didn't quite do its premise and ambition justice, and I think certain elements could've been cut out to make it a smoother movie, but it's definitely better than most people give it credit for.

I have yet to see Love Actually, but I enjoyed Crazy Stupid Love a lot. Though the ending was a tad sappy, I really liked the cast, and the writing was a lot smarter than you'd normally expect.

I was jacked up on horse tranquilizers. I wasn't waving to anyone that day. Except maybe horses.

In Bruges was such a surprising delight, still easily one of my favorites of that year and probably one of my all-time favorite comedies. Not to mention, it had Colin Farrell's best performance, to date. I can't wait to see Seven Psychopaths, Martin McDonagh's follow-up
