Nirvana counts as ten bands, easily.

"You don't get half of the guests including most of the wedding party teaming up to basically say "fuck you" to the bride and groom"

No. The Beatles had the most influence AND were the best. You can't only have one.

I think that Exile On Main St. is better than any album The Beatles ever threw down, but Rubber Soul, Abbey Road, Revolver, and Help! are, in my opinion, better than anything else The Stones gave us.

I still say Ramones are fantastic, mind you.

Listened to all of 'Mones. Fantastic stuff, but…

SMiLE is superior to Pet Sounds, by the way.

I think the Springsteen comparisons to The Hold Steady are overstated.

First true punk rock band is New York Dolls, even though they didn't like that label.

Jim's perfect blah blah blah. When the chicks I was in the room with said "I wish I was Pam" near the end, I said back "I wish I was Jim." Seriously, Pam is fantastic, isn't she?

The bright environment fits the mood of the show much more than it fits the mood of the setting, I think. This show is outrageously chipper.

I overslept until one, so I'll give Ramones some spins tonight.

Either, I guess, though the fifth Pavement album is good, too, despite some fan recoil.

I feel like it's musically smarter than Pet Sounds. Pet Sounds has three tracks that I feel are better than anything on Wild Honey, but some tracks on Pet Sounds just don't completely do it for me. Wild Honey never fucking lets up.

Haha.

Damn, it's really fortunate that the top tier output from both bands was mostly limited to their first four albums.

WO, listen to the first four albums again. I'll do the same with the first four 'Mones. Deal? Yeah, man, I'm always up a lot of listening. I'll probably be done before noon tomorrow, and I'll post in this thread what I was thinking while listening.

Gah, I keep getting more to say. I personally consider The Hold Steady to be like The Who and Drive-By Truckers to be like The Rolling Stones. The Libertines can be like The Kinks, I guess, if Ray and Dave got into huge fucking fights about Ray's fucking heroin addiction. Yes, I'm aware that The Libertines are

@Snape: I know, right? And Billy Zoom is arguably punk's greatest guitarist.

Also, I'm going to throw this out: Drive-By Truckers is destined to be the next The Rolling Stones. Decoration Day is really high up on my decade best-of list (for a sample of how reliable I am, the only two above it are Boys And Girls In America and Dear Science. Like that? How about my divisive picks for numbers
