Um, Lorelai didn't 'rebuff' Max - that makes it sound like she politely declined his proposal. She was engaged to him, and left him nearly at the altar, by running off a few days before the wedding (possibly without even telling him - it's not clear). So yes, she did treat him horribly.

Just a general point regarding Lorelai's behaviour during the season 6 rift: Just take another look at the conversation in 'Application Anxiety' between Rory and the Alumni's 'rebel' daughter Carol. Carol's family is full of people for whom not going to an Ivy League college - let alone not going to college - is

@avclub-4493a2ff6a6e6f236727b9b2f6cecb12:disqus Ah, ok. :)

@avclub-4493a2ff6a6e6f236727b9b2f6cecb12:disqus Thank you - you said exactly what I was thinking, but expressed much better.

@avclub-4493a2ff6a6e6f236727b9b2f6cecb12:disqus Girls reach their main growth spurt earlier than boys. It's highly unlikely that a 16 year old girl would grow 4.5 inches taller.

He was in Germany to teach, not to study.

I don't see how this example of friendly rivalry among colleges is in any way comparable to Sheldon's mean-spirited jokes about Howard's profession.

Um, the joke is that there's nothing wrong with Princeton (obviously), but the rest of the group went to colleges that are rivals of Princeton, so they were making fun of Leonard - who was too much of a, uh, willow, to pull their legs in return.

Now I officially ship Stuart and Amy.

@facebook-100000359297466:disqus  The issue isn't that Oliver doesn't like the show enough (though that's certainly a problem in the case of this episode), but that he's essentially making up something out of thin air, and claiming it's part of the show. When has Raj ever been manipulative or controlling? Those are

Wtf? C+? This is one of the best episodes this show has done in years. It has everything that's good about this show, and practically none of the bad:
* The gang all hanging out together as friends.
* Everyone joining in enthusiastically on a suitably geeky pastime.
* All main characters getting a chance to shine (well,

Maybe it's just that by now my bar for a Sims review is ultra-low … but I felt this particular review was fairly good. He at least made some attempt to analyse the show rather than simply bitching about how nothing happens in it (as he usually does).

I don't think it's impossible for an introvert and extrovert to have a strong and happy relationship, as long as they are willing and able to understand and accept each other's socializing styles - which Luke and Lorelai seem to do most of the time when they're dating.

I don't think that was supposed to mean anything more than that all mothers think their own kid is perfect. It's not like Lorelai insults Gigi in the process of praising Rory.

The Dean/Jess scene counts as a technical Danes Anomaly, since they are not outwardly discussing a Gilmore Girl. However, it's pretty obvious that they are both thinking about their disagreement over Rory, and that is what causes the tension in the scene. So it's not quite a 'pure' Danes Anomaly. ;)

Do you know what the Bechdel test is? (If not, look it up. We'll wait. ;) ) The Danes Anomaly, as we here on the Gilmore Girls comments section define it, is the gender opposite of the Bechdel test. It is defined as a scene in which two or more named male characters talk about something other than a woman, more

@avclub-215a71a12769b056c3c32e7299f1c5ed:disqus  Richard and Emily do not kick Lorelai out - as can be seen in this very episode, she leaves of her accord. I don't think they ever told her she couldn't come back, either. On the other hand, Lorelai tells Rory not to come back until she's willing to do things Lorelai's

Well, Chilton isn't exactly a bastion of liberalism. I can't imagine Chilton allowing it either.

@avclub-d722130ef5aa1f87827d536d59423aa0:disqus I agree that Rory was being more of an idiot than Lorelai in season 6. And yes, Lorelai did intend to attempt a bit of tough love. But a large part of her motivation was sheer anger that Rory had dared to deviate from their plan for her future.

@facebook-707518225:disqus I got the impression that Chilton accepts anyone with the requisite blue blood - only those who blood isn't quite icy blue need to have high academic standards. After all, I think it's safe to say Madeline and Louise didn't get in by dint of their intellectual abilities.
