Maybe the NBA players just couldn't deliver the dialogue well, but I thought that the mixtape thing was a rehearsed game they were running. It seemed more as though they were doing him a favor than that they actually liked him.

Gabe worked for SABRE and they sold Dunder-Mifflin at the end of last season. I am surprised he wasn't brought back as Even More Special Projects Coordinator or something, though.

I think this was their best episode in awhile and it notably came with an absence of Anne and the marginalization of Chris. Both characters have had very little to do for a long time and have been shoehorned in to the detriment of the show.
