I've noted this before, but when I was in law school at UChicago in the mid-1990s, I went to Second City frequently. Scott Adsit, Adam McKay and Rachel Dratch were the standouts to me. Other than the Southie sketch, I have no memory of Tina Fey being there.

Not only does NBC own the show, but Lorne Michaels is its executive producer. Between him and Tina Fey, those are two folks NBC correctly wants to remain in business with, in the tv business.

Part of the thrill of live tv is when an actor breaks. Yes, Fallon and Sanz did it a bit too much, but when you see something like the initial Debbie Downer live, it's exhilarating.
