I’m looking forward to the offseason casting announcements where they’ll add a half-dozen new characters for season 4, so that we’ll see even less of that one guy, and fan-favorite woman with the hair.

Anyone know what the status of the Treaty of Algeron (preventing federation cloaking devices) is supposed to be in post-romulan-supernova trek? It makes sense that it would be long gone by 3200, but now I’m wondering about the Lower Decks or Picard timeframe.

Osyrra: “You’re sitting outside of this weird Nebula? And your Captain is gone?

Had it been previously established that Kelpians really, really like kelp? That reminds me of the sheepish president of the Federation from ds9's Homefront being a Grazerite.

I can’t say that I really liked this episode as a whole, but the Gary Mitchell/Charlie X/Kevin Uxbridge vibe of Su-kal didn’t really bother me.

I think that splitting this into 2-parts was an mistake because it just wasn’t necessary, and it killed whatever momentum they had with whatever the seasonwide arc is doing.

...I just keep thinking about how much runtime this show has devoted to the kinda-sorta redemption of mirror space hitler, all for a spinoff that seemed iffy 2 years ago.

That was a very long walk to get to that punchline.

I always remember that the DS9 writers wanted a romance between Dukat and Kira, and that even good writers can have terrible, terrible, terrible ideas. And Disco’s writers are quite a bit less good than DS9's were.

Season 4 wasn’t bad, exactly. But in the past year I’ve realized just how much it damped my overall interest in the show.

I dream that someday CBS will do a Rogue-One-style retro series set in the movie era with the red tunics, and with Mirandas and Constitutions everywhere, along with an occasional Excelsior.

Q Who was right in the middle of the spandex era, so it definitely wasn’t all bad.

Once upon a time that would have a seemed like a sweet deal, but the two Beasts movies have been so bad.

I have a real softspot for David Yates’ potter-as-hunger-games movies.

In my mind I always think of Columbus’ Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets as being two rough movies to get through, but whenever I watch them I’m always surprised how much better Chamber of Secrets is. It’s still a kids movie, and it’s not Caurón, but it’s not bad.

Similar to that, I don’t know if Cheadle’s character is supposed to be a big hollywood joke about mary poppins-esque accents, but everytime I rewatch it I wish that he weren’t guvnoring it up all over the place.

Spandex-era early-tng ranks pretty low in my personal Trek pantheon, but damn if it wasn’t nice to see a (slightly modified) unitard again.

Everything about Daniels works much better when you think of him as a Thermian.

This isn’t the open seas. Book’s ship leaves Disco’s shuttle bay, it immediately starts shooting Osyraa’s ship, and when it’s done it heads back to Disco. And that’s not only all on sensors, but anyone could have watched it happen out the window.

Yeah, also not really a fan of the space battle.
