Not that ds9 wasn’t an excuse to extend IP, but I think the post-occupation setting made it about something more than just “What if Lost in Space, but Starfleet?"

Someone really needs to do a fan edit to fix all of the borg stuff.
Arrogant is one thing, but sortof dumb is another.
I would love to see Netflix’s numbers, because I’m sure that you’re not the only one.
It’s amazing how little faith this show has in its built-in audience.
Learning later on that she’s a utopia planitia truther does help explain it. Although that’s another can of worms that I’m not sure the writers will have thought through.
I don’t mind that they know each other, or at least they know of each other. They would both be pretty famous.
I will be fine with these Rangers being a military unit (although that’s apparently not the case), or a baseball team, or even a bunch of anti-refugee militia-cosplayers could be interesting.
Although some of the twists and turns are telegraphed, the journey remains invigorating.
I didn’t even know that was possible. Thx.
And just to say...I don’t know how the rest of the season will play out. But I am confident to say:
“She’s on the artifact” “You mean the captured borg cube?” would have been a heck a reveal in this episode...if we hadn’t already been spoiled 5 episodes ago.
After BSG’s messy ending, I kindof can’t believe they’re doing a Final 5.
They introduce the idea that the crime boss’s lizardman can smell lies, which they then immediately subvert with an injection. Like… why even before if it was going to be that easy to bluff past. It’s like saying, “Okay, they have an unbreakable lock!” “Oh no!” “But we have a key.”
I just rewatched both, for the first time in...25+ (yikes) years.
The “ancient borg ritual” thing actually was pretty good. But that’s only because we’re all now conditioned to expect that trek writers really will introduce some cringey new mysticism to make an even bigger mess of the borg.
I think the problem with holo-chateau-Picard is that it’s Picard’s Christmas Wonderland from Generations, all over again.
Like 3 times out of 178 episodes? There are definitely times when Picard geeks-out over history or something, and overrules Riker. But normally he’s the bridge-guy, or the beams-down-with-10-minutes-left-to-negotiate-guy. Seeing him wandering around, alone, on a strange planet is definitely not what we’re used to…
Here’s my rewrite for this season: get rid of the Soji stuff on the borg cube (and a bit of the Dahj stuff too). Because all that it does is weaken what should be a mystery.
