- I’m surprised at how Rick-centric the episode is. I mean, it’s sort of necessary for Rick to do this on his own, but to dispense with the family in the cold open is basically unprecedented for this show. And even then, there’s not even a cutaway or B-story to check in on them, like there was with Beth and Jerry’s

Nah, there were a lot of other Beths in the Gotron episode, and there’s nothing special about the “main” Rick - the entire gag with the “Rickest Rick” thing was that he was the median average on the good/evil scale.

It’s 100% a romantic confession. Rick wouldn’t feel as fucking awkward about remembering those events if it was just a dude refusing to go on shenanigans with him. It has to be genuinely romantic because Rick has absolutely 0 issues admitting it when push comes to shove - even his family has to endure the yapping

I really liked this episode.

“one of”... likely means she wasn’t the first.

Beth being an alternate version of herself that Rick snatched from another Rick after losing her somehow would add a dark background to Froopy Land, which was a super-safe world where nothing could kill her...

I agree with Old Rick. Young Rick’s values are wrong. Who wants a Vietnam?

I really like the lore-heavy episodes, so this one was particularly enjoyable. I definitely didn’t expect them to follow up on Birdperson in any way, and was pleasantly surprised when they did. Curious to see if they do more with this next season.

Assuming Rick’s “totally fabricated origin story” is in fact part true, then our Rick is pretty different in that his daughter died in childhood, so this Rick never had a Morty and possibly was the Rick who was satisfied without portal technology, perhaps more satisfied than any other Rick, but then was forced to be

  • Hey, it’s the return of the dipshit bug aliens! Boy do those guys die easy, huh.

I took the Memory Tammy sayingI really did love you” to be Birdperson’s subconscious trying to overcome denial, or a coping mechanism and attempt at closure over the trauma that occurred due to Tammy and his death. Or maybe BP was just creating a reciprocation, in memory, of the feelings he had for her. Or maybe I

I wouldn’t be surprised if they have it turn out that the Ricks who abandon their child Beths don’t come back, and the Ricks that do seem to come back are actually imposters whose Beths died as children. 35-year-old Memory Rick could have genuinely had that idea, or he could reflect Bird Person’s disgust that a Rick

A mad scientist going to another dimension to steal a version of his dead child?

Now playing

Regarding Morty, another weird tidbit. In the promo for the season finale, Rick spins a wheel of “things better than Morty” and one of the things on it is “Kyle 2.0". Mr. Nimbus asks if the name of the kid that tagged along was “Kyle”, and it’s been confirmed that he’s Rick’s oldest friend/rival, to the point he knew

Watched this with my son, which led to me showing him clips of Hawk from the Buck Rogers t.v. show to explain BP. What I’m saying is: Rick and Morty brings families together.

Probably the best Rick and Morty episode of season 5 since the season’s first two episodes. Now I really want to see Birdperson break his daughter out of jail and be happy for once. And more of young Rick please.

Yea, this one was legit great. Great jokes, great characterization, and great interplay. I do wonder when we’ll get a followup on the whole “Beth actually died decades ago” plot. I kinda doubt it will be the season finale. Sounds like something we’d have to wait for Season 6 to get followed up on.

Well, of course this show would drop a bomb like “you live with a version of our dead daughter” so casually. And that just raises even further questions, like if the backstory Rick provided in “The Rickshank Redemption” actually has a grain of truth to it, or if what was said is even real at all, considering that

also Rick loves Birdperson!

So would Matt Johnson’s new band be called “The” or “The The The?
