Gotta love the “made in the USA with products made in China” labels

No, not exactly. Wanda used her powers to create her children using two pieces of Mephisto’s soul (he had previously been blasted to literal pieces by Franklin Richards) without even realizing what she had done (much like in this show). Eventually, Mephisto pieced the rest of his soul back together and came back for

I’ll never turn down more Ego, her Loco song from last week is still in my head. Also, Maya is coming back? She’s the best. Hope we get a Beyoncé impression that shit always kills me. I think Nick gets too much hate for his acting he was serviceable this week

Huh. I ran into SNL last night and decided to watch. For whatever reason, I didn’t see the Cinderella sketch? Did I just edit it out of my brain?

I loved the Murder Show bit because I recently had a long conversation with my students about why women love true crime and now I get to show that sketch to them. It’ll break up the next zoom.

The same sort of happened in the first run of 6. Dave Chappelle’s episode was very messy due to the bloated cold open, the lengthy monologue, and some iffy sketches here and there (that Super Mario thing), but the sheer burnout meant that they tried some pieces which they usually don’t do on modern SNL and which were

Yes, it was ripe for this treatment. Can you imagine putting one of those mirrors in your bedroom? What if it glitched and came on in the middle of the night? I am not OK with the internet of things.

“Charlotte North Carolina. The regional banking capitol of the world. Gateway to Gastonia. No mountains. No oceans. But enough humidity to make your balls as sticky as taffy”

I kind of feel like the show is better when they’ve been in a long stretch of runs. The last two episodes felt like products of an exhausted writing staff just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks. They’ve been loose and weird and everyone seems to be having a good time. The Disney skit is the perfect

So tonight’s counter programming was Grosse Pointe Blank and the second night of NJPW Castle Attack. I was obsessed that movie’s soundtrack as a teen and it also holds up fairly well. I forgot Dan Aykroyd’s entire motivation was getting John Cusack to join his union for contract killers.

Don’t think about the mirror workout too hard? Huh? It’s a real thing I’ve seen advertised quite a bit. https://www.mirror.co/

Now playing

I thought this episode was a good example of SNL managing to use a host while not leaning too much into them. They tended to work around him as much as they could (and the parts he had the biggest roles in were hard to tank [like the date sketch at the end] or weren’t really going to work anyway [like the Cinderlla

Yeah, this one wasn’t that great... but a couple of things did stand out.

As I enjoyed last week’s episode, I was hopeful about the same energy carrying over, but I was not eager about Nick Jonas, who is mostly just vacuous to me (with my strongest feelings about him amount to being annoyed at how much gaybaiting he did in interviews for his old TV show).

I thought the opening was pretty good for the first time in a while, but the rest rarely hit the mark.

The mirror sketch, cinderella, murder shows and the bar sketch were all strong ideas that entertained. I liked the return of the Warwick sketch and can’t complain about the cold open with Kate as Fauci. This was a charming episode that got wasted on Nick Jones.

I’m just going to post my comment here again verbatim cause it’s clear you didn’t read it (or can’t idk your life):

Also, her first lines in the show were an apology to Wanda for not coming over sooner. “My mother-in-law was in town, so I wasn’t!”

NJian here. You don’t know what you’re talking about. For where Westview’s located it’s very weird to see the town so run down. A predominantly white town in (based on the exit) Essex County would be populated with people pulling in 6 figure salaries in NYC.

I’ve been thinking along the same lines about the yellow magic we saw create Wanda’s Vision.
