I agree. I’m against the queens doing male characters unless they’re people who have some kind of femme or gender bending aspect to them a la the ones you mention and also, say, Prince or Michael Jackson

I agree that the monologue was great

Wow how original. I bet you also think the last time SNL was good was roughly when you were in high school/college

I think the new guy has made the rookie grading mistake of starting too high so now there’s nowhere to go

I’m a HUGE Oscar Isaac fan and I thought he did great with what he was given but overall I was disappointed in the episode. I was sure it was gonna be one of those times when a “dramatic actor” just knocks it out of the park and carries the episode but most of the writing just wasn’t that strong and I didn’t think

At this point these comments are more annoying than whatever they were complaining about

They’ve already made up for that and had two non-elimination episodes beyond that

I thought Bosco was overpraised as moderator. To me she came off kind of contrived like she was trying to shoehorn in some standup comic shtick to the panel and in fact she did pull focus from the other queens which I thought was the opposite of what she was supposed to do. Deja’s approach was much more what a real

Yeah I just don’t fine Daya likable at all. But I also don’t get why people seem to hate Jasmine so much. She’s clueless sometimes but I basically find her likable. Her worst crime I guess is talking too much? (Full disclosure I made anti-Jasmine comments in earlier episode but I feel like she’s become less annoying?)

Yeah I usually agree with Trae about there being too many non-elimination episodes but I thought this was a really fun one, even if the double shontay at the end wasn’t fully earned. I loved the mini challenge. For someone who loved the balloon popping challenge I can’t believe Trae is saying the fake red carpet

Haven’t seen the episode or read the recap. Just hear for the meta-commentary about Perkins, the new guy, AV Club, G/O Media etc.

I mean I ask you to name a better comedian working today and you name a bunch of UK and Aussie comedians who no American who isn’t a weird Anglophile has ever heard of

So the only funny people are from British Commonwealth countries? Got it

If you mean stand up he’s pretty much the only I can stand. Who are you gonna say is better Bo Burnham (don’t even know if he’s a standup really) or Hannah Gadsby or Tig Notaro or some shit? Or are you going more for the middle aged Patton Oswalt Dave Chapelle Louis CK thing? Or some weirdo normal humans have never

You’ve made me very angry and ruined my night. Thanks

I completely agree about the family reunion sketch. I loved the first one but all they did with the second one was pretty much recreate the first time exactly.

I also meant to add that all of this you also get Mulaney’s monologue/standup routine, which was amazing. And, thanks to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, we didn’t even have to suffer through another shitty political cold open!

I’m puzzled by the reaction to this episode because I thought it was one of the strongest eps I remember in a long, long time. Like I can only remember feeling like an episode was this good front to back maybe 2 or 3 times in the last decade. I would’ve given it the incredibly rare “A” as compared to other episodes of

Yes they were yet another victim of the infamous SNL sound problems for bands. And they’re sound is very rich and textured so this really isn’t the medium for them

Having said all that I’m a huge fan of LCD Soundsystem but I am completely confused as to why they were on SNL  as they don’t seem to have any new material

I mean if these queens were born in the 90s (and maybe even one or two in the early 2000s?) I’m not surprised they’re not familiar with music from 40 years before they were even born. I was born in 1973 and don’t know a lot about music from the 1930s for example
