Yeah exactly. People are talking about that in another thread. That show is just too crass and negative and cynical to be fodder for Wanda to make an ideal family sitcom reality

Cosby ran entirely in the 80s. Roseanne started in the late 80s

I’m pretty sure every show you mentioned premiered in the late 80s and were more in the style of what they did in the previous episode. The dearth of family sitcoms in the 90s was something that was noticed at the time, there were think pieces about it and everything. It was the Golden Age of sitcoms about single

I agree that both Denali and Rose are getting the Jan treatment and it sucks. I even liked Jan herself and didn’t like it when it happened then

Wow what a really funny well done parody of boring boilerplate conservative internet comments. Well done

If there are actually are two equally powerful “sides” that deserve it that’s fine, but in practice there’s usually one “side” that’s powerful and one that’s already marginalized i.e. rich powerful people who can’t handle criticism vs randos on twitter. If you “make fun of both” you’re siding wit the rich and the

If you mock the insanely powerful and the powerless equally then you’re on the side of the powerful. So basically Nazis in this case

Okay dad

Yeah I’ve said this about Perkins for awhile. And in fact I’ve led the charge on saying this about various AV Club recappers of various shows since like 2008. (I honestly think I played a role in getting Nathan Rabin taken off 30 Rock). But I know what you mean. For me it’s not the political stuff AT ALL it’s just

I mean it seems like you’re basically arguing for the sketch to be more didactic and heavy-handed. I liked how it dealt with various aspects of life and didn’t have a straightforward “point”

Oh I would love if it they’d stop doing the political stuff in the cold open but people seem to think it’s required by law or something

I do not see much potential beyond sketches that are about how she’s an awesome bad ass bad lady and it’s great how attacks the press because yay team blue or whatever. She’s a PR person. Her job is to lie for a living. If they’re not willing to skewer that, which I’m afraid they wouldn’t be, I hope they stay away

funny you say that because I detected a lot of Bruce in the character that Kyle played in that Super Bowl party sketch. Bruce Chandling would totally talk about Zoom dating

In and of itself it wasn’t cringey but it came off kind of cringey because it was so out of step with the song that came before it and because she seemed to be having trouble actually smashing it

When the banjo comes out that’s a bad moment

I mean one was the actual President and the other is maybe like 12 people on twitter who have no real power but yeah #bothsides

Yeah I thought this was a pretty solid episode too. I’ve seen none of “Schitt’s Creek” and know very little of Dan Levy so I didn’t go in freighted with any particular expectations. I liked the Super Bowl opening. I thought it was a good parody of just how crazy the Super Bowl ads have gotten in these crazy times,

What I usually say is that the X-Men movies tell a much more human story. Even though they have amazing powers the characters experience life’s ups and downs. I think of X-Men Apocalypse not even one of the better films but it fascinates me how it starts with Magneto living simply and happily as a blue collar worker

Biased fake recaps very unfair to Haywood! Sad!

Because your mother doesn’t love you enough
