I just spit pizza out of my mouth, thanks for the first real good laugh that finally came at the end of my day.
@avclub-b4238f7793ec8c1a632f14f2a1766c68:disqus Ice Cream is what they're calling it these days?
Damn right.
"I pity the fool who watches that movie!"
It's tough being a literal person in a figurative world.
Such a pointless and self-serving phrase. Katrina was less than ten years ago. No need to feel old, I simply feel sorry for the author for having no real sense of time.
Thanks Captain Obvious.
Good Lord, is Five Iron Frenzy still around? Hearing that name makes me think I'm still brainwashed and it's 1994.
I believe Jacksonville Skyline would be a good state song for N.C. Love Whiskeytown, kinda know the Raleigh/Durham area, and lived in Charlotte for two years, and still have lots of family and friends there, and it really seems to sum up a lot of the atmosphere and attitude.
As depressing as the MM song is, I'll kinda second that vote. I'll also have to say that The Pretenders "Talk of the Town" may be a somewhat better choice than the bogarted Limbaugh song. Seeing how it's now been over four years since I was last in my hometown of Columbus, TotT tends to remind me of faces and places…
The group Ivy does a much better cover. Sometimes the original can be improved on.
@Dikachu:disqus If I still lived in DC I'd be there in a heartbeat today, seeing as how I typically only had Wednesdays or Thursdays off with my previous job. Kinda jealous.
I was somewhat surprised that there were no Friday the 13th or Halloween sequels that year either, cause I was fully expecting to see some kind of horrible sequel represented by them.
@avclub-e3f5ab7f02122f95b801e13e2c586d6a:disqus I was thinking the same thing. May have migrated to that other site that will not be named.
I hate it when the voice of reason speaks up and doesn't get heard.
I'll agree with you on the dialogue and the jet pack but not so sure about cheap plot points. They also switched up the dynamic between the main character and the love interest, especially how it was resolved (hardly a minor plot point), and some of the in between as well as the ending.
Hellboy IS awesome. I believe a few of us here are still holding out for Hellboy III. I have an ongoing argument with a former chef who thinks that Hellboy is superior to Hellboy II. I tend to disagree.
The only thing I remember about The Freshman is the scene with the sniper over the entryway of the house, and that alone gets it a pass from me. I haven't seen the movie in nearly 20 years and I still get laugh at that.
you mean dan savage?
