Honestly it made no sense to my anglo brain, but I kept watching to the end, so, yes, I think???

Tuesday Wot's on tonight: unofficial UK version:
According to wikipedia, that's the plot of the first book. There are seven more, and he gradually grows up and becomes more socially responsible.
It's supposed to be funny, isn't it? It's about a 12 year old who kidnaps fairies for ransom.
Are they all made-up words, Victoria?
We do, and it's exactly as obscure and difficult as it sounds.
Thanks. I've seen the Election films but never got around to any of his other output. I'll seek these out.
I was having that problem with Top of the Lake. I forgot to watch on Saturday, but in any case the joylessness of it all was getting me down.
Monday What's On Tonight: unofficial UK freeview edition
Here in the UK, some of the keener tv stations get quite creative for their trailers for movies no-one cares about. Channel 5 were advertising a Steven Seagal season with a trailer of movie clips cut to resemble an insane aftershave ad: Seagal, Essence of Man. There was one a while back just repeating a badly…
And that remake of The Vanishing.
Wot's on this weekend: unofficial UK freeview version:
Home Grown: The Mill ep1 (C4 8pm Sunday): 19th century drama. It's grim oop north, trouble at mill etc. plus The White Queen ep 6 (Sun 9pm BBC1).
Thursday Wot's on tonight: unofficial UK freeview version:
Home Grown: Phoneshop (10pm E4) is back. S3 ep1 of the jive-talkin' absurdist sitcom.
"Poisoned" is actually darkly brilliant. Have a like for bringing it to my attention.
You are correct. Misfits reunion!
Anyway, what did we all think of the The Thing remake? I was sympathetic because I thought they had the only compelling idea for a prequel I've ever heard: what actually happened on the Norwegian base? Then they did so much of the effects practically and it still looked fake.
:(
That's much better, thanks.
Well the whole time I was watching it I felt like it was primarily a showcase for how awesome Russell Crowe was, and I wasn't feeling it. Nothing else seemed really compelling either. It seemed like Crowe could just walk out of custody any time he liked and that left Bale looking ridiculous.
Spiderman II had a fight stuck on the side of a speeding train. Has anyone ever staged a fight clinging to the bottom of one?
I didn't like it, but apparently it's just me and Dowd. I think I just got sick of Russell Crowe some time after Gladiator. They keep showing that Robin Hood film he's in and I can't make myself watch it.
