Road House!
The Mike Era? I like it very much.
Katty Kay got Russell mixed up with Willy Brandt for no sensible reason. Except that "willy" is Britspeak for penis. She's usually quite coherent on the BBC news, so I'm going with Jordo's theory here.
Alan is mostly unconsciously incompetent. Whenever a ray of self - awareness peeks out, his ego blots it out.
I watched it recently, and was very touched by the facts that Toyah is more famous than Robert in the eyes of the British public, and that Robert is okay with that, and that he is so obviously still besotted with her after years of marriage. At one point they did let it drop that Mr Fripp is one of the world's top…
Me too. Milk - a.
The Kids transcended traditional sketch comedy. Like Python and The League, they created their own universe, then acted it out. That's why it still seems fresh.
Great article - insightful and entertaining. My uncle gave me a stack of comics (including Spidey #6) which got me started. Jack Kirby's monsters coming out of the cinema screen gave me the willies.
I think Grey Worm will get Belwas' job.
*A SPOILER* , though it's unlikely anyone here would not know about it. My favourite Vir moment is when he tells Mordern about waving bye bye. This whole show was about giving away the future, then showing how it led to those moments, often in unexpected ways. (The death of Londo, for example.) This one, however, was…
I get the impression Martin has already spilled the beans to the show creators, so they can go ahead and finish it all without him. Good news for book fans, really.
J.P. Martin's Uncle series - brilliantly bonkers, slyly subversive and supremely sympathetic. I discovered them when I was a kid and they're even better to read now I'm old.
"That video always kind of makes me tear up. It's almost unfair to juxtapose Mr. Rogers and Congress."
This is what the movie needs to focus on - the animal maggotism.
I really hope Operation Yewtree doesn't get him.
"Stormcock" is great.
My favourite bit: Crassus up a hill, taking a breather after being knocked to the ground. Sparty comes hurtling up the hill, never mind that Crassus is surrounded by burly Roman thugs. It reminds me of the time some Romans taunted Crixus… In fact, why don't we all go to the nearest bar and recount these exploits?
After just about every ep of Spartacus I have had to turn the TV off, as nothing else can compare.
Sparty showed many times that he was inherently decent. He never pissed in anyone's food (like Crixus and pals) and he would never have done what Crassus did to Kore. He valued life above rules, often to his own detriment. Heck, he even saved Batiatus' life in the Pit.
How many surprises were there? The trench. The bridges. Gannicus' arrival. The sword - grip flip. Agron's arrival. Doctore. Gannicus as arena Jesus. This is just one of the many strengths of this amazing show. I just rewatched the first two seasons and the prequel, now I'm going to watch "Damned" again, and then…
