I think John might have agreed with Mr Turner. He always regarded "Imagine" as "Ono Band" with sugar. Also, people who know no better cite it as their favourite John song, and I'm thinking, "Haven't they heard "Walrus" or "In My Life" or "Strawberry Fields"?

The Beeb was very good at showing old movies, but I never saw this or even heard of it until the AV Club alerted me. What a movie! Not a wasted line, no padding, everything moves the plot along. Glynis Johns - what a babe! Danny Kaye - what a leading guy! What a swordsman! And the whole thing is like a wacky version

The Starfighters has the funniest Crow/Tom bit. You have to sit through the endless refueling scenes to appreciate it, but it's worth it.

There are lots of good tracks on "Back to the Egg", and it is a much more consistent album than "Venus and Mars", which usually gets nice things said about it, despite the Magneto song.

Mr J could adapt any of the remaining books, as no one has actually read them. He is thus free to make stuff up, and none of us would be any the wiser. Sauron turns out to be Adolf Hitler? Frodo is from Stafford? The elves are all gay? Some of this is already sort of true.

I'm looking forward to that - "Honey, I Shruck the Kids" was entertaining because of all the different perspectives on otherwise ordinary things. Hank Pym is a problem, though. Marvel made him a nutter and a wife - beater for some reason. I do not wish to root for such an individual. Unless they're going to go full

Not til I've seen Metal Men, and Metamorpho, and Groo, and Forbush Man. Even then, I doubt that my appetite for costumed nonsense will be sated.

Just remembered Machine Man - as close to a Spock or Daneel Olivaw movie that you could hope for.
