Just remembered Machine Man - as close to a Spock or Daneel Olivaw movie that you could hope for.

Good choice.

I'd rather like to see that.

Dr Strange done right would be a great movie. I also enjoyed the Doom comics that Wally Wood did - they had the moral ambiguity that is so fashionable now. Also there was a corking Iron Man annual where he had a barney with Dr Doom that would at least make a good animated adaptation.

I expect Marvel are already preparing the Rocket Raccoon royalty cheques for Bill Mantlo and Paul McCartney.

You need to see them. The first is deliberately historically inaccurate, but has some excellent performances. The last is socially inaccurate, in that Edmund is a man who can clearly see that WW1 is bogus and wants out, but that's an unlikely attitude for the time. I grew up going to church, but I always thought LOB was more of a political movie than a religious one. I stopped going to church, incidentally. Nothing to do with the Pythons.

The audience had no clue what to expect. The closest they may have seen was Spike Milligan's bleak and alienating "Q" series, and that may have made them not show up if they thought something similar was in the offing.

During the reign of Mr Bush, I watched a LOT of Python, which came across as the Voice of Reason. Makes you think, dunnit?
