Welp. I have no words. That sucked.

Tony Hale, the actor who plays Buster, currently stars in a hilarious HBO comedy called "Veep". In fact, in my humble opinion, it's funnier than AD Season 4.
Haha. Yup. What I always liked about AD was that they treated the audience like an intelligent group of people. But this.. this is just so dumbed down, it's sorta insulting.
I could easily say that the people who like it have their judgement clouded by nostalgia. You see, it can go both ways. But I didn't say that, and I'll never say that, because I think it's pretty insulting to simply say, "Well, you don't like this. You're either idiotic, clouded, or not a "true fan."
There is a saying: "Don't tell me. Show me." Yes, I know exposition is needed. It's when it -isn't- needed that the narration becomes excessive. And it gets ridiculous when the narrator just becomes a giant, "Oh, here's the joke, in case you didn't get it" line. It got to such a point in this season that I'm…
You should Google "Sit-com" "genre" and "running time"
Everyone who were disappointed by this season will just continued to be disappointed in the season. While the people who enjoy it will enjoy it. It's subjective taste in television, fella. It's not evolution or physics, for Christ's sake.
And with your mature, positive and well thought out comments, I am sure they'll be encouraged to "do better".
Ah, it's so nice to see you "If you didn't like what I liked, then you must not have been a fan of the whole show" argument! I was wondering when you'd show up! Come in, sit down, make yourself comfortable. This is the internet, after all. You'll have plenty of company in no time!
A kick to the balls is better a second time too, since you know what to expect.
A really good point. I don't think original vision matters. What matters is what was shot, edited, produced and presented. If you're going to create anything, compromises are going to be made.
Dude. I was almost as underwhelmed with this season as you were but, holy crap, you gotta realize that some people, including the reviewers, might think differently then you.
Well, the AV Club did drum up some hype with that "Arrested Development Week" stunt. I rekon it's in their best interest to make sure it wasn't a huge mistake.
Agreed. And I loathed Heartfire with every fiber of my being. I saw what they were trying to do, but I didn't find it funny in the least. If you got to fill in the deadspace with supporting characters because your actors are too busy, make sure the supporting characters are strong and well acted. Not just "Oh…
You're right. Those of us who don't really think the "fourth season" of AD was all that great are just grumpy people. And it's perfectly rational to lump in well articulated criticisms (Pacing, complexity over comedy, excessive narration) with the idiots who whine about music cues.
How wonderfully childish of you!
I know dude! I can't imagine me posting something to the effect of "this has to be a constant joke machine". I can't imagine it because I didn't say it. Wonderful man of straw you made out of me though!
Odd thing about comedies. They tend to need to be funny.
If you admit it's so pedantic, why did you not press the "delete" button, rather then the "reply" button?
OH WOW! Funny is subjective! Holy shit. I gotta sit down for a moment.
