You better hope Ellison isn't reading these comments. He'll sue you for calling him a "sci fi" writer,or even worse he'll track down where you live and personally come to your house and let you know what he feels about the term "sci fi".

If you have a region free DVD player, a wide-screen version of Colossus is available in the UK. It's not the greatest transfer, but at least it's not pan and scan.

Autopsy?!? This is a medieval society that stripped a maestor of his title for conducting medical experiments on corpses. Anyone even talking about slicing into dead king Joffrey is going to get a quick visit from the high lord executioner

You're applying modern, legalistic concepts on what is essentially a medieval fantasy. Tyrion makes such a great patsy that not even Tywin is going to be able to save his arse. If I were Bron I'd be sharpening my sword for another fight as Tyrion's champion.

He works because the writers have used the character sparingly. I believe this is the first time the character has had more that a couple of throw-away lines in a long time.

The Tyrell's are screwed. No consummation, no marriage. My bet is on Tywin. He has the most to gain. He's got a spare in Tommen, plus there is the daughter as well. The assassination gets rid of a nearly uncontrollable psychotic plus the blowback allows him to get revenge on Tyrion for continuing to consort with

Scavengers and insects would treat zombies like free lunch, a big problem with zombie apocalypse scenarios, but apex predators would avoid them like any other dead or diseased animal.

I'm not so sure she's dead. The severed hand of Jack's intern from several years before the start of the series was fresh, I.E. it didn't come from a desiccated corpse. I can't remember if they determined if it came from a living person or a fresh corpse, which leaves open the possibility that Lector's keeping the

Actually, the SyFY Dune mini-series adaptation was successful enough to warrant a sequel that included all of Children of Dune and Dune Messiah

Your memories are correct, Garcia provided the acoustic score for the desert lovemaking scenes.

That's no bootleg. There's was an official release of the ZP soundtrack with an extra cd of outtakes that was released 10 years ago, but I think it's out of print.

According to one of the proposed third sequel treatments, Vulnavia was supposed to be identified as the personification of Aphrodite or some such nonsense. Perhaps it's a good thing that proposed sequel never got made.

The op forgot to mention that Munro plays a preserved corpse in Phibes so there's a logical reason for the age difference. Vulnavia, played by Vallie Kemp, is not Dr. Phibes wife. The films never really clarify who exactly Vulnavia is, there are suggestions that she is the personification of the goddess Aphrodite.

Withfinder General was very influential in kicking of the small subgenere of British horror films labled as "Rural Horror". Other good films in the genre include "The Blood on Satan's Claw" and "The Wicker Man"
Director Ben Wheately also cites WG as a major influence.
Everyones' entitled to their opinion but giving WG

Most of Troughton's last season as the Doctor (68-69) exists and has been released on DVD.  If you haven't seen "The War Games", Troughton's last Doctor Who story, then you in for a treat.  This is the one that introduces Gallifey and identified the Doctor as a renegade Time Lord.

Indeed, I believe EOTW is unique in the history of Dr. Who with the actor playing the Doctor also having another role as the villain of the story.

In the 60's it was considered a children's show but after the Pertwee colourized reboot in 1969 it was very much considered a family show with aspects meant to apeal to all ages.  Hence, the long line of appealing young ladies chosen as companions, as opposed to the teen agers chosen during the 60's

In space objects are WEIGHTLESS.  So Yes, you can grab onto an object going at about 100 miles per hour and not rip your arm off.  The object, regardless of size, is going to be carried along with your momentum since there is no opposing force to stop it.

Neil, this film isn't "Science Fiction", but a realistic disaster film that just happens to be set in space.  If anything, the film is a historical drama since we stopped launching shuttles several years ago.  It's likely based upon several worst-case scenario contigency plans used for shuttle training.

…and who said Dexter was still amongst the living in the end?  Spending the rest of eternity trapped in a lumber camp jacking off seems to be a fitting punishment for Dexter.
