It'd be pretty noticeable if it was just muted.

"This show is just… not compelling. I have watched every episode"

xkcd has shown us the horrors of the sheeple after they've awoken.

The Newsroom is not occurring in "the real world". It is occurring in a world where many of the same news events are occurring, without it necessarily being the case that the coverage is the same (i.e. other news networks need not be making exactly the same mistakes).

I think Avi may have been one of the few guys that's not up on the wall. He's not part of Ezra's firm; he seems to be a personal friend (and business associate, of course, but more secretly so) of Ray's.

No, I thought that might be the case as well. It is a wrongful termination suit, I know that much for sure, and I'm guessing Jerry's the one who gets fired over the debacle.

That was my main issue with it. Why would some villager use the term "Willie Pete"? I mean, sure, maybe they'd have their own name for it, but not the same slang the US military used in Vietnam.

Yeah… Both the humans and the Irathient. Why did they even have human medical personnel treating the sick? Why not just have Indogene/Casti doctors and nurses be on the "front lines"?

Uh… I don't know if you've been in the US lately. Racism's still around, and not just against us brown people. It just subsides for tiny amounts of time.

Agreed. Too many shows try to make everyone sympathetic. (Not including Game of Thrones, of course.)

Nope, just extremely ill.

The Irathients clearly represent tribal or rural civilizations, whereas the Castithans are socially rigid and heavily focus on the concept of tradition. The other races have yet to be elaborated on much. Oh, well, I guess the Indogenes focus on science without necessarily caring too much what it's used for (i.e.

@avclub-298673367c6de609ae5970ce1e699c50:disqus …No, I haven't scrolled through any ASOIAF wiki pages because, well, I know they would contain spoilers. It's not that hard to avoid them, other than the occasional asshole intentionally going around posting spoilers in unrelated threads (on reddit).

@avclub-ef062084a1c4a3584af1d4f8e514ea50:disqus So… "competent"?

I was once into reading spoilers and such, but then I found it just lessened my enjoyment of the shows (especially regarding major events like character deaths), so I stopped.

@avclub-c70194b792ea062c5365b619fd3050b3:disqus Speaking of which, his character in Burn Notice (when initially introduced, not venturing into spoiler territory) very much came off like Dr. Cox from Scrubs

Well said. That was pretty much the essence of Merle's motivations, at least as portrayed in this episode.

Haha. I just recently watched that movie (Seven Psychopaths, for those wondering). Great movie. Very self-referential.

Shockingly enough, comedians enjoy it when you laugh at their jokes.
