"Now Tayne I can get into…"

"Now Tayne I can get into…"

And yet KU basketball and Liberty Hall are both LAWRENCE things! Ewww, burn!  Er, something.

Yeah, I though we weren't supposed to like football or something.  I didn't know about Monty Python. Are we good on "Kids in the Hall"? Or "Mr. Show?"  What about certain types of cars, or Dr. Pepper? Please, someone tell me what, as a woman, I'm supposed to like and not like!!!!!

Wanted to say thanks and great job too! Following this has been one of my favorite hobbies and now we should all get drunk.

It couldn't have been intentional, but I agree with the assessment of Spock's series-throughout-movies character arc. I think it was one of the major things the 2009 movie got right: showing an old, mellower Spock fighting a bear or whatever.

"…and I’m assured that satire and parody are pretty much the same thing."  Nice.

I didn't know until I hit puberty.

The Kirk-Spock-McCoy thing is the heart of Star Trek.  That's why the 2009 Star Trek didn't do it for me: it completely ignored the triumvirate.  Just look at the cover art: why the hell is Uhura there and not Bones?  Oh, because she's banging Spock.  Oh my god.

"Insurrection" actively pissed me off.  When I saw "Nemesis," I was like "at least it wasn't 'Insurrection.'"

Late to the game…

My god, Brooks was effing CRAZY!  It was admittedly entertaining but I was genuinely concerned for him and hoped it was just a mind game he thought he'd try on Shatner.

What, no "Shuttlecraft to Enterprise, Shuttlecraft to Enterprise. Spock here. Happy Holidays. Live long and prosper"?

"It seemed like something that might happen when two people who have interacted primarily as co-workers are suddenly thrust into a position where one is the other's direct superior."Hoo boy, you got that right! Except that maybe Starfleet discipline would like kick in or something and prevent such hostile

Biological determinism should be a sin.  Gender is a social construction and let's not conflate it with what people have between their legs.

I thought it did…

Why we gots to be so segregated? I thought we learned already that separate-but-equal doesn't work.

Woo hoo!  Male-narrated experience - so pervasive/omnipresent in our culture that just pointing it out makes people think you're nutsy. Grrrr to cultural products/ads that just assume the audience is male: like commercials for jewelers or the beginning of the "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" movie where they talk about

Orwell is totes awesome but to describe him as 'disinterested' is totes silly, bro.  He was exceedingly passionate, particularly in his humanism.  See for example "Looking Back on the Spanish War," which contains the most beautiful explanation of why people struggle/fight, that is, just to have a chance at a secure,

Yes.  Americans have such trouble understanding/remembering that the Soviet Union destroyed the Nazi war machine.  It was nice of America to show up eventually, but the European theater was really a battle between fascism and communism and communism won.
