I blame the lack of flashbacks on the fact that new young Shawn sucks compared to old young Shawn.  Every time I see the current version I just want to punch him in the face.

If his issue was acquiring pigment then why did he attack only pasty white people?  You gotta figure he could have gotten what he was after a lot faster by going after blacks.  Maybe he didn't want to be seen as racist?
