It's not just in name only.  According to the synopsis of the novel, it takes a few liberties, but it's still the same Romeo and Juliet from the play, just undead and angry now.  Past events have happened, and this is more of a terrible, terrible idea for a sequel.  So, if you were to change the names, and then…

It's related the same way that Wicked is related to Wizard Of Oz.  Only this sounds terrible right off the bat, instead of having to find out later that you were duped.

But just about every "Shakespeare-inspired" work is just a lazy way to cash in on someone else's work, and Shakespeare didn't exactly invent the "tragic love story" himself, anyway.  I'm not defending it, but only because the book sounds dreadful, not just because I have any respect for where is came from.
