It was me who told you about Daniel Craig's character in "Our Friends in the North" developing. I remembered later that at the same time on NZ primetime Sunday night TV he was playing the truelove character in "Moll Flanders". Alex Kingston was Moll Flanders. RIP free-to-air/legal TV.

and even in LEGO form, Kurtley Beale going arse over tit is very entertaining. Who needs to watch the whole game when you have the highlights:

still trying to track down "Our Friends in the North" here to rewatch. Daniel Criag's character has a great arc, stick with him.

i like the way you combined 'grisly' and 'full frontal' into one term -not quite what i meant in the Scandi context, but you're right. You have to be in the mood for this stuff sometimes- for me, the reason I've never got into "Breaking Bad" was that it started at the same time (within the same 2 nights on TV here

Totally agree, just binge-watched the first series of "Borgen" and even liked the bits where it was verging on being like a 1980s nighttime US power soap.

his dad (who seems very sweet) was on the TV news tonight, retelling the "2 Toes" story. Come on, give us room to be good in one form of the  game.

yeah, but Marty 2Toes looked magnificent

Like a lot of people, judging by the ratings slide, I found that The Blue Rose just didn't quite work for me (I missed the first episodes, caught one in the middle and wasn't compelled, and then watched one towards the end because I kinda felt sorry for the show being relegated, in part thanks to My Kitchen Rules).

Still enjoying WILTY though I'm maybe I'm tiring of the format a little. Watched Have I Got News for You this week, with John Cooper Clarke! Ian Hislop had a fanboy geek-out.

liked, for both the sentiment, and the Sally Brown reference

saw David Kilgour play on Saturday night (though I missed his in-store at Slowboat for Record Day)- it was wonderful.

good answers- I'd forgotten about the Roosters deal, so that all makes sense.

if you were SBW what would you do? or indeed, if you were facing the dilemma of my 7 yr old darling? (you are allowed to do paper-scissors-rock in resolving the dilemma)

interesting conversations about how SBW wouldn't have had the injection that means he can't run for 7 days if it was a Club play week.

it's never gotten great reviews, but when I studied film we used the 1981 remake of "Postman" (with Jessica Lange and Nicholson)- maybe try that if you're stuck and you need that for the text. For Cain adaptations though, you can't go past "Mildred Pierce"

oh ha ha Wellington's all "BBQ reggae". that one never gets old- aren't Six60 from Dunedin?

fuck yeah, i bet. how did Australian cricket become such a Shuttle Crash?
As magnificent as the MCG is, you missed a couple of really lovely days at the Basin last week.

between me and my workstation neighbours, we manage Radio Sport, Cricinfo, Test Match Special and the Guardian liveblog (my favourite). We were pretty much ordered to go to the pub on Friday afternoon.

Me too! god knows how I'm going to concentrate at work tomorrow. I do hope that Two-Metre Peter doesn't turn out to be a one test wonder though

hmm, I'm with Great Unwashed's comment below. Test cricket is the answer to the drought
