This was my earliest sci-fi influence (hence my screen name), and always thought it could make a great movie too in the correct hands. However, I think it was easier to buy into "jaunting" as an adolescent - not sure they can pull it off in today's cinema. You're probably right, Demolished Man, may be better material.
