Huppert's looking well for her 60 odd years.

Yup, quite surprised that the Henry Blake MASH episode didn't make it to the list. One of the original gut-punch episodes of any series.
I do remember Arnold’s character in the original movie saying:
Now if it were 'Crispin' Glover, that would be a whole different story….
I grew up in Dublin in the 70s and 80s, a little over an hour’s drive from the border but a galaxy away. We used to say that if you can make any kind of sense of
Northern Ireland situation, it probably means that you don’t fully understand it.
True Grit?
Would the academy really have given Oscar twice for the same role? I doubt it.
I dunno Mike. Anything that prevents me from looking at Irène Jacob's young face, even if it's for only a few seconds, does not get my approval. At least with La Double Vie de Veronique, you had twice the chance of screen time.
I thought Ivanho was a Russian rapper's girlfriend.
Well there was Quintet.
I will say though that whether a movie was good or middling, he always improved it with his presence. And you can't ask much more from an actor.
Glacial Valleys - where no one can hear you scree.
Next summer they could combine the Snow White and the Sleeping Beauty franchises and make "The Maleficent Seven".
Aren't about 50% of all French films (including comedies, thrillers, melodramas, tragedies) adultery-themed? It is their national sport after all. You could easily do this whole section of 'watch this' without ever having to leave Gallic cinema. Although 'Little Children' probably deserves a mention.
Why doesn't anyone ever mention '5x2' when talking about Ozon? For me it has to be on of his most powerful and disturbing films. A relationship self-distructing backwards in five scenes and what has to be one of the most miserable sex scenes in movie history (the film 'Intimacy' notwithstanding).
So a bit of love for…
Totally agree. a truly spiritual film. Although I don't honestly know if I could re-watch it. Too painful.
The Roman Empire notwithstanding.
Well with her trademark 'pointiest-chin-in-Hollywood' she could hardly play anyone else.
Absolutely agree with Tinkerer. A woefully underrated movie and Spacey’s work in it is flawless. One of the problems is that actors only tend to get noticed for their more extrovert roles whereas often it’s the subtler roles that deserve more acclaim.
I've been an avid fan of Marmite since I was 5-years old and would eat it every day if my wife could stand the stench of it off my breath. Admittedly most prople can't abide it. However a teaspoonfull of M in a stew or casserole gives it a nice umami kick.
Nice tribute to a great man. Bravo Sean.
Agreed.
I have a donor card so if I'm dead, my body can hopefully help someone else live or at least live better. There's no real difference between that and having a Uruguayan rugby player tuck into my cold dead hams. (oops, that sounded a bit gay)
