Well, thank you to Todd for again stating (BUT NOT EXPLAINING) the AVClub's policy.
Well, thank you to Todd for again stating (BUT NOT EXPLAINING) the AVClub's policy.
Hey, Kyle, thanks for that clarification, that clears up everything.
AVClub grades were, until recently, such a standard fixture in these reviews that they were part of the site's identity. And taking a bottom-line stance on the quality of a TV show or movie shows the rest of the Internet that you have the conviction of your opinion to say: "Homer Alone was a solid, _____"
The Grades
Oh, I now see that even Classic reviews that used to get grades don't even get grades anymore. I'm going out on a limb to say this idea is a bad one.

Bonerland, I don't think your reasoning is applicable here.
No Grades
I'm sure I'm neither the first nor the last person to point this out, but this recent trend of not grading classic TV Club is very lame. That Explains It
If you can delude yourself into equating The Killing with The Sopranos, then you're entirely capable of justifying every bullshit thing that happened on that shitshow this season. And I guess this certifies that The Killing's creative team is out of touch with both humanity and reality…
Todd, if you used the word, "show" too much, I didn't notice.
ZMF's thoughts here are the greatest and best analysis of Carmela I've ever heard. If anyone other than Edie Falco had played that part, the whole show would have been a disaster, because Carmela basically has nothing to do almost all of the time.
In other words, while Todd's first 300 or so words may have been applicable to the dissolution of "a" marriage, they were remarkably inapplicable to the dissolution of THIS marriage. Tony and Carmella in no way resemble the scenario TVDW laid out here. Any one of us could easily write 1,000 words explaining the…
Todd, You Watch the Show Right?
After reading many of these Sopranos reviews, I was absolutely certain that TVDW watched this show with considerable focus, but after I read the first four paragraphs of this review, I'm beginning to question that impression. Dammit, Todd, you did a credible job of characterizing things…
