the problem with this film is the ending. building up to the final episode I had a sense of dread. Then the film finished and I thought "hang on, that can't be right". Sure enough, shortly afterward I flicked through the book in a bookstore and looked at the wiki and no, it wasn't right at all. A Le Carré adaptation

this is a story i wasn't expecting to read. hope they don't cock it up

the plural of Judge Lance Ito is Judges Lance Ito. pricks.

that's fantastic

"whose Spotlight took home the Best Original Screenplay Award at the Oscars this year"

well,

"Batman and Superman, though, didn’t used to do that. They weren’t metaphors for adolescence, they were avatars of adulthood, different models of your dad. Dads don’t fight.

It does not surprise me at all that Jesse Eisenberg is the most fun thing about this movie

'“A world has been lost,” the priest replies simply, a kernel of wisdom that, like most of this season’s philosophizing, emerges as more profound than you might expect from a superhero show.'

'“Get a fucking life. It’s only tits and dragons.”'

Mark Rylance doing movies is a glorious thing

probably 'stupid' instead of 'silly'

just a reminder that 'Whiplash' was a fundamentally silly movie and I can't believe avc rated it so highly. I mean, honestly.

this reads more as ambivalence than antipathy. fuck y'all av club.

I thought the point of the meta-episode in Curb in the first place was that it wasn't very good?

I owned a smartphone-sized nerf gun, perhaps even smaller, years ago, albeit not smartphone-shaped. It would perhaps be more innovative if the gun was integrated onto the top or bottom of a chesp plastic case for phones

this tell anyone just about all they need to know about Record Store Day

"While this isn’t definitive proof that gaming improves your navigational ability"

I like a good thriller and the casting is legit interesting here, although with Malin Akerman in something so obviously genre-y you do kinda expect things to take a Childrens Hospital turn at any moment

I don't know about you guys but I sure want a middle aged Australian making a show about the birth of hip-hop culture in New York in the 70s.
