All the bassists have seemed out of place in Metallica.  Shit, everybody but Lars and James (and maybe Mustaine, haha) have seemed out of place in Metallica.

Vs. does have a lot of barnstormers on it, though, they're just padded out with a bunch of insta-dated funky wahwah pedal jammy crap (and "Elderly Woman," which is a killer song in its own right, but I know a lot of people don't agree).

I heard "Mind Your Manners" on the radio yesterday.  It really caught me by surprise, it's a pretty killer song.
