I really hope buttercream makes a comeback in the baking world soon! It's not as smooth a finish as fondant but you can do a lot of gorgeous things with it and it doesn't taste like chalk.

I just had Little Caesars last week for the first time since college and you know what? You can do a lot worse.

Right? I didn't grow up in New Jersey but I still understand the desire to leave this town full of losers, ect. Being a woman doesn't even mean I have to identify with Mary or Wendy or Janie!

The drive from SLC to Reno is bleeeeeeak and "Promised Land" and Darkness generally, gets that so hard. Every rest stop along the way could be its own Bruce song.

My sister got married this summer and she literally could not find a local cake-maker who would do buttercream-only. She is strongly anti-fondant but she ended up with a fondant wedding cake (it was lovely but still fondant-y).

You know, I'm still sad about how it all worked out for Awkward. I caught up on the first couple seasons a few months ago and thought it had a really unique, funny voice. It's such a bummer that they took that away.

what?? This is a question? Judy Garland, always, forever, to the end.

I was way too old when I finally realized that.

Don't worry. It's stumped greater hobbits than yourself. (Best wishes on your surgery recovery - watch lots of tv and enjoy the meds!)

GBBO is starting to find its footing here, I think. PBS has shown the previous two seasons in recent months and it's caught on a bit (as much as any PBS cooking show does, anyway). And a lot of people have caught the fourth season on Netflix now. It's kind of a sleeper, but I think it's gaining fans.

Now having watched it, I agree that it feels rushed. I wish the casting had been better - I like these bakers fine but their skill level isn't as high as the British version. I wonder if that will change, now that Bake-Off is getting more popular here, thanks to PBS and Netflix.

Eh. There's also been occasions where Mel or Sue ate a part of the contestants final bake before the challenge is over, so I think it all evens out in the end.

That little moment between Jane and Rogelio, where he says he can't imagine his life without her, was so sweet. Definitely teared up for a minute.

Alba and Mateo are clearly a beautiful True Love story.

Molly! And Gus! And Lou, who loves being a grandpa so much!

Where did the surviving Kitchen Brother end up???

And cut your glorious 70s hair, too.

Enlightened was so good. I wish more people had seen it.

Is this worth watching? I was so disappointed by the first American bake-off, so I've not spent any time on this yet. But I've loved GBBO since about season two and it's nice to see Mary Berry is involved. Does this have the same positive energy and low stakes as my beloved Bake-Off?

Don't worry. There's always Squarespace and Nature Box and that one men's underwear company whose name escapes me. And if they're really struggling, Audible.
