I think it had something to do with the rights to the international version of the show being sold to CBS a couple years ago. The American version was called the American Baking Competition and it barely lasted a season (even though it had Paul Hollywood!).

I thought that Hugh Laurie had an amazingly authentic British accent when I watched some Jeeves and Wooster reruns around the time House was airing.

Here's the thing, though. Americans adopting British pronunciation invariably sound like pretentious dummies. It's like adding a 'u' to color - if you're American, you just look silly doing it.

And I didn't even add scone to the list!

American-style: rhymes with bone, stone, lone, ect.

Respect. That's a great story, fellow knitter.

I always go with Stephen Frye's pronunciations from the audiobooks. This includes pronouncing the word "shone" as "shon".

I find that just adorable.

Lucky guy. He's about to find out that I'm Ben Murphy.

Is that why it's been so elusive on previous Turkey Days? I better go clean my glasses.

Thank you thank you! I love learning about weird fanfics second-hand bc I don't read them myself but I love knowing that somewhere in the world, a person wrote a fanfic about the Monkees converting to Catholicism.

well, that's just universally relatable.

Very.

He played Duckie.

I kind of agree. I think it was more of a girl bonding moment than a "I'm going to change the core of your personality" moment. She definitely went back to the black liner the next day AS SHE SHOULD.

That scene realllllly stuck out to me when I rewatched this a few months ago. I had a hard time feeling as happy about the movie-ending fist pump after he literally sexually assaults her just because he thinks it's funny.
