Gordon Willis losing for the GFII to The Towering Inferno is puzzling. The Towering Inferno looks like shit.
I've seen 'em live twice. They have a TON of energy in their shows.
Check the Wikipedia page for the podcast— it's crazy how much they used to play all the different shows, nearly every week, but for the last year or two, it's been WYR or nothing. I'm pretty sick of WYR, honestly.
That really is a hell of an effect:
Honestly, I've probably listened to it more than any other soundtrack I own. It's lush as fuck. (Though I have essentially no interest in the Industrial Dance Mix.)
Quall and David Liebe Hart were part of the same public access show. They apparently share an apartment.
Tim & Eric have benefited from the delusions of David Liebe Hart, Quall, and others, (and don't compensate them enough) but I don't think it's fair to say that T&E are laughing AT them— I think it's very clear that T&E love to live in a world where such strange things and strange people exist.
Aimee Mann is a real champ, but is seems that she hasn't been on the show in 3+ years. She needs to come back.
I think she's been staggeringly funny in Podcast appearances. I'll vouch for these two episodes of Comedy Bang Bang (especially the first):
Here was hoping James Adomian and/or Amy Phillips would have made it this time around. Oh well.
I would give him credit— it definitely owns its vaguely surreal, interminable timing. The saminess, minimalism and understatement compares well what would be a predictably escalating version of the same scene, full of mugging.

@avclub-62812d8eb06386505986efff8b5e43ac:disqus There have been unsuccessful attempts at all sorts of Presidents. Ford, Truman and others— very near misses. If you have enough attempts, ONE of them will get lucky enough to have it work.
I saw them live at the Fillmore in 2011. Things I remember from the show:
One more thing— the fact that the DVDs have dopey generic music because of licensing issues is so terrible for everybody involved. I wouldn't imagine myself going back and watching QL on DVD, but that's a textbook example of deadweight loss.
Didn't they wave that away with "Theory of Relativity… shortening frames of reference… etc… etc"?
God, I used to watch all of these back in junior high, when the Sci-Fi channel used to air all of these in order. What a terrific series.
