I don't know if "The Shield" really deals with the corruption of a protagonist in the same way that "Breaking Bad" does and — to a lesser extent — "The Good Wife" does as well. This is stupid, but I've just got to say it: I don't understand the Winona hate. Is she my favorite character? No. Did I like her terribly in this episode? Honestly, no. But do I want her gotten rid of? Not at all. She's immensely important to Raylan and his characterization. And I do like her overall.
