WOMP IT UP!

the cardinals have held the best record in baseball for much longer than the pirates have this season. just saying. i obviously don't rely on avclub (or sorkin) for sports news.

if you've read silver's book you would know that 13-18 is indeed a really solid outcome.

there are so many elements of OZ that appear in this series, but obviously in a different form.

you don't want to be watched watching? is this a david foster wallace novel? (also to throw in my unnecessary opinion: i'm not a big animated show fan, but bob's burgers quite possibly had the funniest season on tv this year. it was superb)

todd, i know you put a lot of time and effort in to these mad men reviews, but i have to say that the best part is always your 'next week on…' taken of course from the most ambiguous teasers on television.

i had the pleasure of watching him conduct a director's workshop at my school and even shook his hand afterward. he was very funny and seemed rather reserved. it was a great treat.

on behalf of all overweight, bearded white men: not all show-runners can look like a brilliant show-runner all the time/ever (damn you, vince gilligan!).

at least they finally switched his press photo!

even you, chanter, are on the lenny destefano train!

even you, chanter, are on the lenny destefano train!

i'm a big tv watcher and a diehard st.louis cardinals fan. i've got to say, seeing any mention of the redbirds in the AV club universe is cool for me……

@Dikachu:disqus yea, but cheney can't last forever. there is a finite supply of babies for him to consume in the world.

he put all his anns in one basket, so now he has to eat toast.

@avclub-adad33d3da210f8c6efe515ace3e7089:disqus thanks for the clarification. i could not remember the details. i imagine that means you're still at the start of that book. it is really enjoyable for us TV fanatics (i finished it in less than 3 days, but i'm also an avid reader). sepinwall is kinda the man. people

@avclub-1df8797177fc3b52be6784aacca7358c:disqus because in OZ i always let others handle my business!! (often without realizing it) ((unless they messed with my girl or brother, then i will do things myself)).
you're also correct that tom fantana didn't want any of the prisoners to be imperially innocent and wrongly

@avclub-5fdbaa11bd42c308322756f60f43785f:disqus you're correct. i always saw the surrealism of OZ's format and structure as a method of counteracting the brutality (which it needed, or it would have been way too much). i cannot disagree with what you're saying.

didn't sepinwall's book have a little story about one of the only issues AMC had with breaking bad was that a gun was pointed at a child for TOO LONG, so they made them change the cut? strangely similar in values regarding what is and isn't acceptable to show.

totally valid, UMD. (although i maintain the belief that even a casual episode of OZ was more brutal and/or grotesque than anything that has ever - and probably will ever - appeared on TV)

when did the good tv shows stop killing beloved characters?!?!? (or i guess when did it become such a big deal) remember shows like OZ and the wire where virtually every character dies by the end? or how the sopranos would take a hated character and try to make the audience like them before they were killed.  even
