i agree, she was the standout female for a while and leveraged that status as if it was reason enough for being a comedy icon.
when it is well done it can be great though. 30 rock churned out fantastic nyc humor, and the sly reference to the 2nd ave subway line on mad men a few weeks back was something i loved.
i'm sure there are at least a couple writers from SoCal. if you don't mind me asking, do you enjoy getting some SoCal humor? there is so much nyc humor not only on SNL, but all of television, and it is honestly quite enjoyable for us new yorkers.

i've always had respect for wiig, but have thought differently of her since a couple friends of mine that work at snl kept talking last year about how much of a diva she is and that everyone actually dislikes her quite a bit.
in interviews DFW said there were supposed to be significantly more endnotes and that his editor made him stick with the 'essential' ones (go back and take a look at what qualifies essential now and get a laugh or two).
