Since the new one doesn't have a number (during his reign), we could call him Pope Zero.

I was unfortunately partly distracted by the fact that 1982 is 31 years ago now, so Perd would have been at best a teenager.

"I was on welfare and food stamps — nobody helped me out" is a notorious Craig T. Nelson quote from a couple of years ago.

Why not?  At least you know you'll get bang for your buck.

She was texting all her previously-unheard-of cheerleader friends to invite everyone to the house.

I see what you're saying about the phrase carrying over from the ad, but I think it reads differently here.  The ad is in first person, and "I think I'll keep her" does sound like what you say (which is why it became notorious).  But "He thinks he'll keep her" doesn't…at least to me. To me, it's more like "He thinks

I'm not getting it.  Doesn't every married person think they're going to keep their spouse?  Or am I supposed to be interpreting it as being about what they used to call "a kept woman"?

Not to sign onto Migraine Boy's entire attitude, but where does it say in the song that the guy's an asshole?  It's the story of a woman who decides she doesn't want to be married any more, which is fine, but it doesn't give us a reason to hate the husband.  And yet, "she packs his suitcase", so I guess he's moving

@avclub-0ae7484a9f3bbd2a21df420050c032ae:disqus I was going to mention TWD explicitly, but then I would have had to say "Or, just play the zombie expansion of Red Dead Redemption", and it would have been off-topic.  But now it's not!

It's hard to think of a show on TV that would not be improved by the addition of Raylan Givens.

If you lock a cat in a box with a vinyl record, the record will be both scratched and unscratched until you open the box.

Didn't they do a bit with the Springsteen video once?  Maybe a still?

I don't know…I feel like this show is just barely not-nasty-enough to kill Ellen May. As opposed to the other current F/X show, in which that Russian embassy woman cannot possibly survive the season.

At this point, if Ellen May gets a guest-star Emmy nomination, you couldn't complain.  I'm not saying she should win, but she's doing pretty good work.

We're like Happy Meals with feet.

And to an extent Emperor's New Groove vs Road to El Dorado, both released in 2000.

I'm having trouble nailing down what I mean. Rick Grimes is an enemy who (granting the Gov's view of the world) has killed a half-dozen of Woodbury's residents. A guy like that, you call by their last name.  Unless, of course, you're watching a TV show, because TV shows take care not to duplicate first names. (I

Which reminds me of this oddity: it just seems weird that Governor keeps referring to Rick, when he's not around, as "Rick", instead of "Grimes".  Like we're all pals here or something.

I keep waiting for Carl to make a move on Beth, because if you were Carl, who'd you be fantasizing about?  I figure the show is waiting until Chandler Riggs moves from "obvious child" to "young teenager".

There are, but they all sit around and drink.
