Missy breaks bad. (We've seen it before when she thought she was fired.)
I say it could not possibly have been unintentional. (Notice that it closes on the desert, as has been the case through the first season of GOT.)
Yah but. Look, if Sally's been "possessed" by some external force that can be, I presume, driven out, then the fact that there's no externally "visible" "other person" standing there isn't very meaningful. It's still not really her, so the whole shock/horror thing doesn't work.
That was me, passing along advice from elsewhere, and yeah, I thought of that connection too. But that advice is probably valid anyway: for a spec, they want to see if you can do their show, not something that their show isn't. (Whether or not this would be an acceptable variation, I don't know.)
To quote an old friend's genius declaration in the same circumstances: that's how we know it's a democracy, because we eat with our rulers.
On Ken Levine's blog, he once referred to a certain looseness in the direction of Jim Burrows (who did either all or most of these), in that he was willing to have the actors act more naturally and follow them with the camera, rather than insist on having them hit exact marks. I wonder if this is what you're…
I noticed that the (new?) opening narration says that Regina remembers the other world, which is way beyond any statement the actual show has made.
For the benefit of people who aren't beyond spec scripts: I once read an article of advice on them, which included this one: don't break the format. (Fanfic, knock yourself out.)
