I would go as far to say that the Part 2 in DS9's two part episodes *don't* let down largely because they adhere more closely to making each half a relatively complete story rather than one longer story over two episodes. This doesn't quite work for the feature length episodes, but the rest seem to hold well with it.

I've found that over time, "The Search" (particularly Part 2) pays a lot of dividends. And not just on how Odo views himself, but his relationship with the Founders and pretty much everyone else. I was very pleased with how his storyline turned out.
