"The Platonic ideal of what a tribute album should be" pretty much sums it up. I think it's the only tribute albums I've ever heard that should kind of be considered part of the canon for an artist. It's like the last chapter of the Gram Parsons story.

GP Tribute Album Redux
Hey Nabin, if haven't already, you should check out "Return of the Grievous Angel," it's a GP tribute album that was put out about 10 years ago and it has got to be one of the most essential tributes ever, I actually listened to it before I listened to any of Parsons' originals and it made me a

Can I just say that the whole OSI "opening credits / theme song" sequence has got to be one of the greatest parodies of all time?

Pancho and Lefty is AMAZING. It's, like, the outlaw country equivalent of Low, except Willie and Merle are Bowie and Eno. "All The Soft Places To Fall" and "Reasons to Quit" are 2 of the best country songs ever.

The concept was always really strong though, and I loved the natural progression of the idea of Grendel going from being embodied in just one guy to eventually becoming the ethos of the entire society

Hey Riff Randell, which crappy town in Idaho did you grow up in? We talking Southeast Mormon Purgatory, Boise Yuppie Sprawl or Northern Logger Shitkickerville? Each has their own specific effects on the teenage punk rocker. ;-)

Vampires
There's a sick, sick part of me that sort of wonders whether "Vampires" is actually a brilliant film. I remember watching it (in the theater *wince!*) and thinking to myself "Okay, seriously, this has to be a fucking parody." The scene where James Woods and Chunky Baldwin are walking in slow mo down the heat

Either that or jump up on his desk and whip out your lightning tattooed dong. That'll get some attention.

I am just popping in to exclaim that I, also, feel that In The Mouth of Madness is a good movie film. Yes. Carry on!

YES! Goddammit, thank you! I try to listen to TAL because a lot of the time the subjects they cover are really interesting and funny, but a lot of their contributors' vocal inflections just seem so horribly studied and contrived that it kills it for me. Ira Glass's in particular makes me want to shove shards of

Query …
Why do all the girls I know have a crush on Brett, yet all the men have a crush on Jemaine? This is a subject worth exploring.
