That's, by far, the biggest problem. I don't know of anyone who IS Darren McGavin, and he was the heart and soul of the movie and series. Depp could capture the humor but I don't know about the world weariness or the seen-it-all demeanor.  A great remake can be done, but replacing McGavin is a huge hurdle.

Yes, because they basically made it as X-Files part 2. Wright won't do that.
