I think it's still likely (although less plausible) that Brian will be the one to help fix Pam and Jim's marriage. This might be leading to a "Sorry Pam, I don't like you that way — go back to Jim!" cheesy ending, but it'd be better than "the boom operator loves Pam" storyline.
