Hmm, leading with Seger says a lot about the listmakers here. I second the Tenacious D, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and about a dozen others mentioned in the comments and add Yo La Tengo's "We're An American Band." Just because you come up with 16 doesn't mean you have to stop.
