Fair enough - a poster farther down this thread pointed out that you could live with any of the other 4 nominees winning. You can argue you liked Munich or Good Night, Good Luck better, but I think you'd also acknowledge that Brokeback Mountain was a lovely film that is objectively better than Crash. So I suppose

I agree with the OP - Crash has no redeeming qualities. That's bad enough. But to me what makes it the king of this list is the fact that it beat out a superior film - Brokeback Mountain. Sometimes average films win because it's a weak field in general that year (see Gladiator and Beautiful Mind). But for a BAD film

Saw this on HBO a few months ago and really loved it. I thought the director did a great job addressing the subject without exploiting any of the subjects. I cried in the sections with David in particular.

Solid A for me. Thanks to the promo monkeys I knew someone was going to die, but it didn't spoil it for me, even though it was abundantly clear that it was going to be Carter. As the people below pointed out, the minute the kiss happened, you knew it was over for her.

I had the same problem, but Terry Crews and Andre Braugher more than make up for Andy Samberg's presence.

Eden Sher's lack of an Emmy nomination infuriates me to this day.

I'm fine with dark humor and I'm fine with a fairly high level of mean-spiritedness. However, I too feel uncomfortable with the Andre hate.

I agree that Shilling is a really strong lead. Especially as the first season developed, and it was fairly clear that Piper was sort of an asshole by design. That made her much more interesting to me. Because I don't get the sense that the show is excusing her asshole behavior, but rather showing how she's 100%

I don't mind the subtext, because it doesn't feel particularly forced to me. I've noticed it since very very early on in Season 1. I'm not sure how I feel about the potential pair, but I can't deny that they do have a weird chemistry.

Honestly, that gives me chills everytime I hear it. Such a great change.

@lost_limey:disqus I've read the books as well, but it's so hard to avoid spoiling that I basically avoid talking on newbie threads for the most part.

I agree that it's confusing, because it makes it sound like Jaime had a hand (no pun intended) in the Red Wedding. However, I weigh that against the need to feel like Zombie Cat is singling Jaime out because she specifically blames him for the event. I am hoping that in book 6 Brienne and Jaime figure out a way to get

Am I crazy, or is it possible that there are actually two Machines now? I assumed that the firm they investigated last week was The Machine making an actual copy of itself, by having humans hand copy code into another device of some kind. That would explain the two different voices were heard - Root received a female

@avclub-f730967b3505a7080b83c53ebc565f3f:disqus - I recall the folks who did Extra Hot Great (which was a podcast I normally adored from the former TWoP members of Glark, Tara Ariano and Joe Reid) being fairly dismissive of Elementary when it was announced. They proclaimed that the British version was perfect and

It's kind of a shame that they didn't bake this into Joan Watson's background. It would have been very easy to change her backstory into something like, "Gave up medicine after the pressure of battlefield medicine got to her."

After the terrible episode where Axl selfishly broke up Sue and Darren, showed no remorse about it, and pretty much was a terrible brother, it was nice to see him bonding with Brick. Charlie McDermott is capable of making Axl a flawed but likeable person when given the right material. It was nice to see him

I loved that Sue got a bigger presence, though I was disappointed to learn that she was just as big a screw-up as the rest of Selina's staff. It was nice to think that Sue was the only person in the Veep's office with her shit together, so I was sort of sad that she got flustered in her big appearance.

There should be a 30 for 30 on the whole Irsay family, since it seems like Bob Irsay set the standard for crazy that his son is content to carry on. For a good time, go read Jim Irsay's INSANE twitter feed.

For one night, and one night only, I was on Team Pete Campbell. It helps that Harry has supplanted him as the most loathsome person on the show, of course, but Pete's genuine horror at Harry had me cheering for him for once.

From what I understand, there weren't enough people reading the reviews when they were covering this earlier, which is why they dropped them from regular rotation.
