That's why SCTV is brilliant, not only would they do a ridiculously specific joke based entirely around MacArthur Park, they would do it for 6 minutes! They were not afraid to do material that 98% of the audience wouldn't fully get if they knew that the remaining 2% would know how perfect what they were doing was.
