That's partly because "Machu Picchu" was really poppy for a Strokes song. Not all of their best songs are necessarily catchy, at least in that same way.

@avclub-62812d8eb06386505986efff8b5e43ac:disqus Like so many of the "the" bands of the early to mid-00s, the Kaiser Chiefs had an energetic, somewhat hyped debut, followed by listless sequels going in different directions that never quite captured the magic of the first. I don't think anyone cared enough about them to…
Some HuffPo brainiac is arguing that Ke$ha's new album is more Strokes-like this one. Discuss.
I was going to say that New York City Cops is a pretty shitty song, but having listened to it just now, I guess it's okay.
That's hair metal '80s. There's like a billion other genres from the '80s that modern day musicians are mining, from the post punk of the early Strokes to the New Wave of the current Strokes. And don't hate on '80s pastiche, it brought us Kavinsky and the soundtrack to Drive, after all.
Well, I don't want to blame it all on 9/11, but it certainly didn't help.
I had no idea that he's even been in a film since Rush Hour 3. I wonder if doing Silver Linings was one of the reasons why he passed on Django. Glad to hear that he's in non-Jackie Chan projects now, in any case.
Still disappointed that Chris Tucker didn't use this film as his ticket back to Hollywood.
It was still a strong contender for a B+, at least.
Let's Community.
Wasn't Jack Black supposed to guest star this season? I assumed that was him.
I always thought there was something vaguely bigoted and deeply offensive of the old Community's portrayal of the Dean.
* POP POP *
Troy is often passionate about stupid, irrational things. Getting mad about chips is pretty consistent with his character.
This episode's A-plot basically described how the episode felt to me in usual; the new mgmt. at NBC has basically pulled out all of the stops to try to cater and pander to the recalcitrant, bloated, self-entitled audience that is Community friends: focusing on Greendale, actual time in an actual class, giving Pierce…
Yeah I think it was strong B+/weak A- territory.
@avclub-a8396b6e8aa419f80aacaaa47ddea88b:disqus - That is the cause for the infinite delay of Half-Life: Episode 3, after all.
Imagine how much money he can blow at the Mayo Clinic, though.
@avclub-79557cb93066f4470b8cee6e9110f757:disqus - And in Neuromancer, and '80s cyberpunk in general?
Nah, there were always Serbians/South Africans/IRA for generic white people terrorists.
