Current Simpsons' only strength is it's ability to do unorthodox things with plot and storytelling. This was on of those episodes. They are no longer the standard bearers of comedy but I have to hand it to them for putting a lot of quality into the writing.

I never hated the movie but it falls into that same category as Little Miss Sunshine for me, it mistakes quirky for interesting. It's a trap many indie movies of that era fall into. I think they were all trying to imitate Rushmore but missed the part about the characters actually being likable.

I would go ahead and add pork belly to this whole phenomenon too. With the explosion of food trucks and "foodie" culture in general, I'm not sure why have we chosen to to start putting the cheapest, fattiest, unhealthiest cut of meat in every fucking dish.
