I think we can file that under "scenes Spielberg refuses to film." Dead little girl in a muddy road is fine, dinos eating babies is a big no-no.

I'd add that Spielberg and Bird can really make a film resonate emotionally. Bird is a bit more adept at this (I can understand why people think Spielberg can be emotionally manipulative), but the ability to create emotional beats sets them apart from the Bays and Bruckheimers of the world.

Trolls are particular and like cats? Consider my mind blown.

That's really great. Thanks for this.

What is wrong with that, exactly? It shows that she's still the same girl after the rape; she's still allowed to like her favorite band, even if she had an abortion and her best friend turned against her. It's IMPORTANT for assault survivors to know that it's okay to be happy and that it's okay not to feel wrapped up

How is their marital arrangement any of your business?

Yup. And she's very nice in person— she takes the time to talk to each of her fans individually. Not that she hasn't made a few missteps or eaten too many Vietnamese soft rolls, but she's still okay in my book.

Ugh, if I could actually call RuPaul, I could die on the spot, content with my choices and accomplishments.

Hey, Heather!

AMEN.

AMEN!

But he also goes by RuPaul as a man. He doesn't identify as a woman, so there's no reason to refer to him as her when he's out of drag. He's just playing a character.

Yeah, but that came out years later.

This is wonderful. I always hated the ending, but as always, Ebert managed to find the emotional (or coded) core of the film. I still kind of wish it had ended with him waiting by the blue fairy, but this is a fine explanation.

Yeah, I hate it when directors want their movies to resonate emotionally.

Yeah, it's so perfect that fathers are constantly abandoning their children.

Wouldn't it be funny if like 5 dinosaurs ate a 26-year-old powerlifter/nurse RIGHT NOW?

I watched it in HD a few years ago and everything looked really, really fake, even the people. I'm hoping the new release improved that.

I want to meet the person who names dinosaurs. "Hmm, how can I make this gigantic killing machine even more awesome? I know! I'll name it 'King of Gore'!"

Gump really hasn't aged well.
