I think thats what it is. Avatar wanted to be "the" sci-fi movie of this generation. It thought it was so much more intelligent than it was. Pacific RIm was a movie made specifically for entertaining 12 year olds/inner 12 year olds.
I was partial to
Maslany for 13!
Probably a bit of 4, you know Baker likes the weird shit.
I had forgotten how fun this era could be as well. I feel like I'm a bit sour on the RTD era because I can't get over the overcrowded sentimental finales of his last couple years. Also the Slim Shady Master in the End of Time….that will take me a while to get over.
Fuck: All of the Above.
With the Unquiet Dead we get the first of actors playing bit or supporting parts and then eventually becoming a lead in the Who universe. Gwyneth/Gwyn will be followed by: Officeworker/Martha Jones, Soothsayer/Amelia Pond, and Frobisher/12…
Was there ever a doubt that that would happen?
It was a fun performance, but I didn't love it. Doesn't matter how funny she was, it didn't hide the fact that she was a glorified plot device.
This show generally believes that certain artists' works will stand the test of time, it is actually one of my favorite recurring motifs.
What is the general consensus on "The Unquiet Dead"? I haven't watched 9 in many years and I think that was one I kind of liked? I also remember not really falling in love with NuWho until "Dalek".
Stan's Beard is also me, by the way. Disqus felt the need to log me into that account for no particular reason.
Okay yeah I definitely get what you're saying. I just feel like the whole "oh, and you'll conviniently never remember this" was too neat? Like it was Moffatt going "Oh no, I messed up the shows timeline, lets just hand wave over that and move on". I still think I loved it, and honestly, Baker's cameo redeemed any…
I could have gone my whole life without listening to that rendition of "The Last Chance Saloon"
I loved it for being boring honestly. I adore the entire motif of entropy in his final season. It's weird and dense and makes little sense and I love it to bits. Don't ask me to explain it because I'm not sure I understand myself.
And sadly neither of them are very good (though the Sontaran two parter is infinitely better).
I like Clara too, but I can't shake the feeling that we got the least interesting incarnation of her character. I would have much rather had Victorian Clara be the companion.
You're more than entitled to that opinion. I personally love the hell out of that episode. To each their own.
Awh I really like Logopolis. I actually like the entirety of Baker's final season which I know makes me weird. I'm also partial to all the regeneration stories (except Time and the Rani of course)
